Summary:
We are looking for a dynamic Regional Category Manager to join our new high performing Purchasing Organization at SKF.
The position manages the category within the Regional Components Categories and reports to the VP of Purchasing, Industrial Region Americas. You will drive strategic sourcing projects with cross functional teams. Develop, communicate and implement a category strategy with the stakeholders in the SKF Group where applicable as well as the regional stakeholders. Furthermore, you will coordinate purchasing activities in your category network and drive supplier improvement through fact-based analysis (financial, quality, manufacturing, etc.)
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop strong category strategies for Americas including category target setting - based on a deep understanding of SKF Product Lines needs and insights into the supply market characteristics.
- Analyze category spend data to find opportunities for End-to-End efficiencies and cost reduction, e.g. supplier consolidation, specification rationalization, variant reduction, regionalization balanced with low-cost country sourcing based on TCO etc.
- Develop and drive the improvement, cost reduction and innovation plans in close collaboration with the local teams to ensure alignment with factory needs.
- Lead & manage strategic sourcing projects applying SKF strategic sourcing methodology
- Participate in/lead fact-based negotiations.
- Drive supplier onboarding and the supplier change process. Work in close collaboration with Product Lines to secure local acceptance of new contracts
- Measure and manage supplier performance in all QCDIMS aspects
- Manage Supplier Relationships (SRM) for selected preferred suppliers
- Manage internal stakeholder relationships withing the Global Purchasing community as well as the cross functional teams in the Region and our units.
Required Skills and Abilities:
- Previous purchasing experience is a merit, minimum 5 years, preferrable on Direct Materials
- Good knowledge of purchasing processes
- Project management experience
- Willingness and the ability to travel frequently, up to 25%.
- A university degree and a sound technical interest
