About the Role

Business Engineer Encoders is a technical-commercial specialist responsible for both engineering integration support and business generation. Beyond acting as a trusted technical advisor for OEM design teams, this person is accountable for identifying, developing and securing new business opportunities for the Encoder Bearing portfolio.

This role combines:

  • Technical depth (applications, integration, troubleshooting, product knowledge)
  • Business acumen (opportunity detection, pipeline ownership, commercial strategy)
  • Customer leadership (engagement with engineering, purchasing and strategic decision-makers)

 

Key Responsibilities

Technical Responsibilities

  • Provide technical expertise to OEM engineering teams on encoder technologies (magnetic, inductive, optical) and their integration into motion systems.
  • Support application engineering: feasibility analysis, specification matching, troubleshooting, EMC considerations, performance requirements.
  • Lead technical discussions: architecture reviews, feedback loop requirements, controller interface compatibility (CNC, PLC, robotics, AGV/AMR).
  • Train internal and external stakeholders (sales, distributors, integrators) on encoder principles, product portfolio and application guidelines.
  • Collect technical feedback from the field to feed Product Management and Engineering.

 

Business Responsibilities

  • Own the business development for Encoder Bearings in the assigned region — including opportunity creation, customer targeting and pipeline management.
  • Identify high-value opportunities by understanding customer architectures, applications and pain points.
  • Build and execute account penetration strategies together with regional Sales and the Global Encoder Product Line.
  • Drive value selling, articulating performance and TCO advantages of SKF solutions.
  • Collaborate closely with Sales Engineers to secure wins and accelerate time-to-revenue.

 

Required Experience

  • Solid experience with encoder technologies: absolute / incremental, magnetic / inductive / optical.
  • Engineering background in robotics, CNC, automation, motion control, mechatronics.
  • Experience in OEM B2B environments with ability to engage technical and commercial stakeholders.
  • Proven ability to generate business, convert opportunities, and influence customer decisions.

  • Business-driven, proactive, hands-on.
  • Structured, autonomous, rigorous.

 

Locations

USA: ideally near industrial automation hubs.

In Any country in EUROPE: preferably close to robotics, automation or Material Handling clusters in Germany, Sweden or France
