Summary:

This position is responsible for organizing and controlling department(s) to ensure maximum utilization of plant, equipment, manpower, and material to attain the highest levels of quality and maximum effectiveness and productivity in a safe and effective manner in support of organization goals and objectives.

 

Key Responsibilities
  • Ensures the quality of the work coming from their department(s).  Follow ISO-9001 practices and procedures, ensuring that the proper documentation of travelers and MDO’s are maintained.
  • Effectively deploys assigned workforce to ensure production goals are met.
  • Ensure meeting established goals for productivity, scrap, and rework through effective planning, organizing and control.
  • Communicates and interacts with related departments such as manufacturing engineering, production control, maintenance and others in the determination of methods, procedures, equipment and tooling requirements and meeting quality standards and marketing and delivery requirements.
  • Preserves neat, orderly and clean department while promoting and ensuring safety at all times.
  • Constantly seeks improvements for cost reductions for their area, initiates and sees through to completion those within their control and recommends others to their supervisor.
  • Accountable for maintaining budgeted expenses.
  • Effectively communicates with and motivates employees in support of departmental objectives.
  • Supervises department personnel to ensure work performance, adherence to company rules, and administer disciplines in a fair and consistent manner. 
  • Implements and maintains production control schedule.
  • Initiates maintenance requests for machine repair and reports unsafe conditions for repair; ensures timely repair.
  • Develops, trains, and supervises effective shop organization.
  • Prepares and maintains necessary reports and paperwork.
  • Responsible for all timekeeping responsibilities in Kronos Time & Attendance, as well as site coordination for work/production schedules and timekeeping resolution for all direct reports.

 

Education/Experience Required:
  • Bachelor of Science degree with 3+ years’ experience or an Associate of Science in an industrial technology related field with 7+ years’ experience.
  • Seven (7) years direct experience in a machine shop having effectively performed work on similar equipment/products. 
  • Must possess strong technical and mechanical aptitude. 
  • Ability to read blueprints, communicate effectively, (verbally and written) and knowledgeable in shop math and manufacturing procedures essential.

 

 

Desired Education/Experience:
  • Technical operations and production supervision experience
  • 10+ years of relevant supervisory level experience
  • Candidates with a High School Diploma and 7+ years of technical operations and production supervision experience will also be eligible for consideration in lieu of a college degree.
  • 2+ years of LEAN Manufacturing Concepts
  • Must possess strong Problem-Solving skills
