Job Summary
Our Heavy Industrial Seal (HIS) Vulcanizing position consists of Rubber Packing Inspections. The process contains prepping cut joints to be cured by cleaning any debris, dust, or rubber from the final cut of rubber packing. The joint inspection process regularly requires the application of glue and buffing with rotary equipment.
- second shift position open. Training may occur during the first shift. Shift premium for second shift. This is a union position.
This position will report to the Shift Supervisor.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Operate operations safely, accurately, and efficiently using Work Instructions.
- Read, understand and follow job specific Job Safety Analysis (JSA)
- Ability to pay close attention to detail, visually inspecting critical areas of the Rubber Seals for any types of defects that could cause failure.
- Utilization of the Visual Defect Guide to help determine a good part from a bad part
- Read part drawings to know where critical areas (CP vs Picker) are located on specific parts
- Applications of glue to packing joints
- Operation of heat blocks
- Buffing joints on packings with a rotary buffer
- Responsible for completing daily production logs.
- Wear required PPE: hearing protection, safety glasses, and steel toe shoes. Other areas may also have job-related PPE such as gloves and/or sleeves and will be provided.
- Maintain proper daily maintenance and housekeeping of machines using ‘Five S’ Lean concepts - sort, set in order, shine, standardize.
- Ability to Travel for 2 weeks at a time to Salt Lake City for initial training is a plus.

Education and Experience:
- High School diploma/GED equivalent preferred; specialized training or certification a plus
- Must be able to read, understand, and communicate in the common language (English)
- Basic Computer and Math skills required
- Manufacturing/production experience beneficial
Physical Requirements:
- Constant movement and standing for the duration of the shift.
- Able to sit, walk, bend, reach & pull, lift or carry/lift up to 10 lbs.
- Able to use repetitive motion in hands, arms, and wrists
- Exposure to factory work environment
- Good visual and hearing acuity
