Summary:

The Lubrication Management division of SKF consists of a global team. Develops and manufactures lubrication solutions for use in industrial applications and automotive repair facilities. Marketing brands such as Lincoln Industrial, Alemite, Orsco, Mityvac, and Guardian.

Lead technical approval of new suppliers to ensure conformity with SKF material and product standards. Improve production efficiency, quality & delivery performance of suppliers in scope to ensure their compliance with defined SQA Quality standards & Objectives.

The Supplier Quality Engineer reports to the Supplier Quality Manager of the St. Louis facility.

 

Key responsibilities:

  • Analyze problems to qualify issues both in a team and/or self-supporting environment. Develop and implement corrective actions for problem.
  • Review and implement inspection methods to ensure product quality
  • Direct quality improvement efforts using quality tools; i.e. 8D, 5 why, control charts, MSA, capability analysis, SIPOC, Fishbone, etc.
  • Work with customers and suppliers to resolve and prevent nonconformances
  • Review engineering changes, evaluate impact, react to satisfy needs.
  • Perform supplier system Audits utilizing QT3 audit tool
  • Participate on product development teams, APQP+ process
  • Drive corrective actions associated with supplier quality non-conformances (VCCs)
  • Prepare monthly supplier quality performance reports
  • Approve new supplier parts utilizing PPAP process

 

Requirements:

  • Bachelor of Science Engineering degree
  • 2+ years of supplier quality experience
  • Knowledge/experience with assembly and machining processes
  • Ability to travel up to 15% for customer, supplier, or internal meetings
  • Six Sigma Green or Black belt certification, desired

  • Experience in tight tolerance manufacturing and subsequent strong understanding of prints and GD&T
  • Experience on interacting in a multicultural environment
  • Ability to write routine reports and professional correspondence
  • Knowledge and operation of CMM
  • Knowledge and operation of Calipers & Micrometers
  • Knowledge and operation of Rockwell Hardness testing
  • Knowledge and operation of Micro Hardness testing equipment
  • Knowledge and operation Corrosion testing via Salt Spray methods
  • Knowledge and operation of X-ray machine to measure plating thickness
  • Basic knowledge of statistical tools
