Summary:

To plan, execute and maintain the daily/weekly work schedules required to deliver quality products, on-time and at the lowest costs to the customer. Work with the manufacturing team to implement continuous improvements, maintain quality procedures and processes in compliance with the QMS system and ensure safe work practices are being followed in line with the EH&S policies. To provide a first point of contact to the team for technical support and escalate to obstacles or challenges as required.

 

Key Job Functions Team Lead:
  • Provide daily support to manufacturing team in the troubleshooting, repair and solutions to the products produced along with the repair and maintenance of the specific test fixtures, jigs, and equipment.
  • Work with Manufacturing team, Supply Chain & Quality to maintain and report all
  • quality concerns, defects or process breakdowns and contribute to possible solutions.
  • Work closely with Manufacturing team, Process Engineer & related engineering departments to improve procedures, processes, and safety by identifying and utilizing lean methods to make manufacturing process more efficient and effective
  • (ie: reducing waste, 1piece flow, 5s, lean tools etc).
  • Chair the Daily Meetings (1034 location) in taking/providing the information from/to the team in helping solve/inform and taking actions at the DM level and escalating where necessary. Tracking schedule deviations and risks and reporting them to the Production Manager/Planning. Participating in providing solutions and taking actions.
  • Performing other duties within skill level may be required.

 

Customer Returns:
  • Review, schedule and release MO’s or labor tickets (ERP & manually requested) to effectively utilize resources and skills to meet requested due dates and maintain
  • on-time deliveries to the customer. 
  • Provide day-to-day supervision and technical support to the manufacturing team and motivate all team members to meet or beat the business goals and objectives and weekly scheduled work
  • Ensure that the manufacturing team is trained and following current manufacturing processes/procedures and working in compliance with the quality standards and safety procedures outlined in the SKF QMS/EH&S systems.
  • Plan, schedule and prepare repair quote requirements for product returns.
  • Provide support to Supply Chain for parts ordering, procurement, and notifications of low inventory levels.
  Safety:
  • Participate as a major contributor in driving a safety conscious culture within SKF.
  • Educate and mentor new employees on safe work practices and observations

 

Training:
  • Mentor and train new employees on processes, procedures, production tools etc.
  • Record and document training
  • Look for opportunities to improve the efficiency of the training.

 

 

Technical Support:
  • Provide technical support to new employees.
  • Provide technical production support to Engineering.
  • Participate in the improvement of work instructions creating improved safety.

 

Maintenance:
  • Maintenance Management - Ensure that Preventive and Corrective of Production
  • Equipment is being performed and scheduled correctly. 
  • Keeping production tools & equipment in good working order in accordance with
  • the manufacturer’s recommendations &/or SKF’s requirements.

 

Skills :

  • Strong Planning Skills, Detail Driven, Excellent Oral and Written Communication Skills, Leadership, Excellent Organizational Skills, Assertiveness, Problem Solving Skills, Goal driven, Dynamic thinker.

 

Education:
  • Post-secondary diploma/degree in Electronics or Mechanical discipline

 

Experience:
  • 3-5yrs experience as an Electronics/Electrical or Mechanical Technologist
  • Or 5+ yrs in a technical leadership role

 

Knowledge (technical/practical/managerial):
  • Knowledge of production methods, inputs, outputs, workflow, and industrial processes including safety, quality control and costs that have effects on the business.
  • ISO 9001:2015 Quality management principles Proficient in Microsoft tools excel, outlook, word, power point etc.
  • manufacturing tools & principles (Kaizan, Poka-Yoke, Single Point Lesson, 5s, JIT, Takt time etc)
  • Diverse technical understanding of electronic, mechanical and mechatronics basics
