Job Summary:

This unique position will serve as the direct technical support for the Metrology function and in addition, support Procurement Quality.

SKF Aerospace is a first-tier supplier to the global aviation industry and much more. We design & manufacture complex, high performance, high-value bearings in steel and advanced ceramics. Our production group, technologies, & products are at the heart of aerospace industry and the world’s leading aircraft jet engine & gearbox manufacturers at our Falconer, NY location.

 

Job Responsibilities:

  • Providing technical support directly to metrology technicians
  • Lead the investigating, purchasing and implementation of new measurement systems for manufacturing
  • Author step by step setup and inspection procedures for newly introduced measurement technology
  • Training on metrology systems for new hires
  • Leading metrology related projects and to ensure a smooth hand-off with manufacturing
  • Manage the calibration of various gages and associated calibration work instructions in accordance to industry standards including ISO 17025
  • Improving procurement quality through receiving inspection, supplier involvement and internal systems
  • Will maintain the PQE function; initiate, review and follow-up on corrective actions to vendors conduct vendor audits and will work with vendors on Continuous Improvement activities
  • Will support ISO Certification efforts and be active in registration and surveillance audits and resolution of purchasing related issues

 

Job Education and Requirements:

  • Preferred candidates will have a Bachelor’s degree in a Science or Engineering field and/or 3+ years hands on experience
  • Strong communication skills (oral and written)
  • Strong computer skills (MS Word, MS Access, Excel, Powerpoint)
  • Candidate must be able to work in a team-based environment
