Summary:

  • Technical Specialists are “Experts” in the specific Industrial product categories (CR Seals and Standard Offering, Heavy Industrial Seals, Fluid Power Seals) and applicable industries where SKF offers are applicable.
  • These technical experts will be located in specific US sales regions (West, South, Northeast) providing distributors and end users with best-in-class product, technical support, and services.
  • This individual will have a strong engineering and/or technical background along with thorough knowledge of design, product, applications, testing, and manufacturing, related to the product line and industries to support growth of seal sales.
  • This person will be the ”brand ambassodor” for the product line championing the sales growth in line with the strategic goals by fostering relationships & continuously creating new contacts and sales opportunities for target customer accounts.
  • This person will be responsible for delivering on the technical aspects and needs along with some commercial, training & marketing support.
  • You will collaborate with other SKF regions for transfer of knowledge & best practices.
  • You will help to define and map target industries and customers for sales growth.
  • You will collaborate with sales, business development, product management, product development, and marketing to support customers and grow the business.

 

Job Responsibilities:

  • Aggressively promote the SKF Seals products in collaboration with sales & business development
  • Visit Customers regularly (Distributors and End Users) to understand applications, solve problems, build relationships, and drive opportunity in order to maintain and grow Sales
  • Act internally and externally as the Knowledge Expert / Application Engineering Expert for the specific Industry of Expertise
  • Drive new business in conjunction with Sales / Business Development / Product Management by satisfying and exceeding customer requirements
  • Assist in defining the overall product strategy, product roadmap, and sales strategy with Sales, BD, Product Management / Product Development for the Strategic Initiatives
  • Be the expert with respect to the competitive product, threats, hurdles, and SKF offering
  • Understand the market regionally and collaborate globally with SKF colleagues, ensuring a focus on industries that fit well within the strategic initiative
  • Develop and execute internal and external Training, Tech Days, and Seminars
  • Participate in trade shows to develop relationships, leads, and contacts
  • Provide installation assistance, trouble shooting, failure analysis to Customers
  • Support manufacturing and product development with insights and strategic direction
  • Assist in developing sales tools and marketing literature in conjunction with Sales, Business Development, and Marketing for product positioning
  • Collaborate and input for marketing / Customer communication activities
  • Collaborate and Input for new product launches and / or cost savings
  • Support SKF Distributors and End Users with technical support/joint calls and visits
  • Provide seal recommendations / technical solutions as part of the application review process
  • Passionately overcome challenges internally and externally to satisfy the Customers

 

Requirements and Qualifications:

  • BS Mechanical Engineering or equivalent Engineering degree
  • 10+ years of experience in application engineering, product development, or maintenance engineering 
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and ability
  • Ability to manage time and resources to meet organizational goals.
  • Basic PC software and CRM (Customer Relation Management) skills.
  • Proven track record of proactive and continuous improvement within area of responsibility
  • Demonstrated ability to think and act strategically
  • Ability to communicate effectively with internal and external customers to capitalize on sales opportunities.
  • Travel required to visit customers and SKF locations.
  • Excellent Communication Skills Internally and with the Customers
  • “Active Selling” Mindset for the benefit of SKF
