Summary:

The quality inspector/assembler supports SKF by performing visual, measurement, and assembly on bearing components.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Verifies incoming documentation matches information on bearing components.
  • Visuals components using required scribes and magnification both before and after repair.
  • Measures components using required measuring devices and tooling.
  • Determines acceptance or rejection of components.
  • Provides machine operators with information on material removal.
  • Performs identification etchings on bearings using air pencil.
  • Ensures that the inspection tools and equipment are in proper working order and the proper calibration affixed before use
  • Understands the current specifications involving inspection tolerances, limitations, and procedures established by the manufacturer of the articles being inspected
  • Actively supports company’s 5S activities
  • Follows all plant safety regulations.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

 

Requires Skills and Abilities:

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong attention to details
  • Capable of using Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Ability to read/write/speak English
  • Ability to work independently in a high stress environment

 

Special Requirements:

  • Candidates must pass a near vision eye test to Jaeger 1 and a color perception test.
  • Candidate must be able to use calipers, micrometers, and other gages to measure bore, outer diameter, and other dimensions as required

 

Education Requirements:     

  • Candidates must possess a high school diploma or GED

 

Physical Demands:   

  • Periods of long standing and / or sitting, heavy lifting, bending, and eye fatigue.

 

Working Conditions:

  • Works in a controlled climate. Small amounts of machine noise. PPE required.

 

Travel Requirements:

  • 0 % of travel
