Summary:
The quality inspector/assembler supports SKF by performing visual, measurement, and assembly on bearing components.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Verifies incoming documentation matches information on bearing components.
- Visuals components using required scribes and magnification both before and after repair.
- Measures components using required measuring devices and tooling.
- Determines acceptance or rejection of components.
- Provides machine operators with information on material removal.
- Performs identification etchings on bearings using air pencil.
- Ensures that the inspection tools and equipment are in proper working order and the proper calibration affixed before use
- Understands the current specifications involving inspection tolerances, limitations, and procedures established by the manufacturer of the articles being inspected
- Actively supports company’s 5S activities
- Follows all plant safety regulations.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Requires Skills and Abilities:
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong attention to details
- Capable of using Microsoft Word and Excel
- Ability to read/write/speak English
- Ability to work independently in a high stress environment
Special Requirements:
- Candidates must pass a near vision eye test to Jaeger 1 and a color perception test.
- Candidate must be able to use calipers, micrometers, and other gages to measure bore, outer diameter, and other dimensions as required
Education Requirements:
- Candidates must possess a high school diploma or GED
Physical Demands:
- Periods of long standing and / or sitting, heavy lifting, bending, and eye fatigue.
Working Conditions:
- Works in a controlled climate. Small amounts of machine noise. PPE required.
